Welcome to Stock Photo Queen
I’m Katie Dobies, a Maine-based fine art and stock photographer, and the photographer behind Stock Photo Queen. I believe photography can help us notice the beauty in the world, preserve real moments, tell meaningful stories, and perhaps bring more peace into the spaces we share, including the digital spaces.
I’ve been a stock photo contributor since 2014 to sites like Istock/Getty, Adobe, Deposit Photos and Alamy. I thoughtfully create authentic stock photography for brands, publishers, designers, educators, nonprofits, and storytellers looking for authentic images of real people, places, nature, travel, and everyday life.
The thousands of selected photos are curated from over a decade of my own travel, adventure, and attention to detail in any given place I found myself. There was a time that ‘I couldn’t see without a camera.’
Stock Photo Queen is a creative way to give my stock photo collection its own space as a whole without visual interruption or weeding through millions of artists’ images on larger stock photo agencies. Originally from New York’s Capital Region, I spent years traveling throughout the United States before making Maine my home. Before becoming a full-time photographer, I worked as a flight attendant for Delta Connection regional flights. Traveling constantly and spending time in different cities, landscapes, and communities shaped the way I see the world and deepened my relationship with place, light, and the small details that make somewhere distinctive. There is beauty everywhere.
That experience still influences the way I photograph today. Whether I’m photographing an expansive landscape, a flower opening, a historic place, or an ordinary moment, I’m looking for what makes it worth noticing. What is the subject? That’s what makes my images good as stock photos because there is clear subjects, room for copy and design within the image or as an addition to a layout. My stock photos are versatile. Some have been licensed hundreds of times for a variety of uses. So if you license one of my images, you can reuse it for other uses and find your own versatility in it. Every license on Stock Photo Queen is a lifetime license.
My Photography Career
Officially, I began my professional photography career in 2014 as a stock photographer with iStock by Getty Images by suggestion of a colleague when I was brainstorming what direction to go with photography because I knew I had a great love for it ever since childhood.
Since then, my photography has been licensed and published internationally across thousands of print and digital uses, including editorial features, book covers, news articles, websites, educational materials, marketing projects, and media publications.
My photography has been published and licensed internationally across thousands of print and digital uses, with images appearing in Good Housekeeping, Travel + Leisure, CBS News, HuffPost, Yahoo, AOL, Martha Stewart, The Nature Conservancy, National Geographic, USA Today, BBC, and other national and international publications, books, educational materials, websites and media.
I’ve also been a contributing photographer for Saratoga Living Magazine, where my editorial photography and authored photo essays have appeared in lifestyle and travel stories.
My photography has also been recognized by organizations such as the Natural Resources Council of Maine, highlighting my environmental and place-based photography across the state.
Real Photography of Real Places and Moments
My photography focuses on real people, real places, and real moments. I photograph what is actually in front of me, with careful consideration of light, composition, context, and what is included within the frame.
My work has developed through years of commercial stock photography, editorial storytelling for local businesses directly, travel (49 states visited, Oregon to go!), and direct experience seeing how photographs are used by publishers, designers, businesses, and media organizations around the world.
In an increasingly AI-generated visual world, knowing what we are looking at, whether it is real or generated, matters to me.
That is why I founded the Ethical Imagery Standard™, a public initiative created to help define and protect real, human-made photography through clear authorship, truthful context, and transparent licensing.

I created Stock Photo Queen as the curated commercial home for my photography.
Every photograph in this stock photo library began with me being there. I saw the place, person, subject, light, or moment and made the photograph myself.
